Stori Anne & Co
& Anne:

“We spend so much time dressing the body,
yoga and acupuncture are like dressing the mind.”

I love the bright and shining stars of the Stoughton boutique, Stori Anne & Co, Jenna Pechmann (right), and Nikki Rostowtski (center). For the past few years we have enjoyed each other’s care, referred clients, and generally gushed over our mutual love of feeling and looking vibrant.

In the spirit of co-creating I wondered how we connect and bring awareness to each other’s small business, love of family and community?  I jumped at the chance to interview them and share what makes them tick so beautifully with you:

What is your favorite thing to do with your business Stori Anne & Co?

Jenna: We love going to market trips, to NYC, Chicago, Vegas to expos with the latest. We get away, and we can
make decisions because we are really focused those days. It is also a bonding experience for us.

Nikki & Jenna: Inside the shop, we love being a part of someone’s memory. Sometimes people come in for just a “whatever” or it can be major: a date, a wedding, reunion, and then they come back after and let us know all the complements they received, how they felt, and  it is a great feeling to be a part of our clients special life events. Our clients become friends.

Anne: I love it, it’s like my dad says, “If you are doing your job right, it is like you get to go out and see your friends all day.”

Nikki & Jenna: Yes!

What do you love about clients?

Nikki: They are all so individual, that when I see a piece, I think of an individual. People come in and say, “I have no idea what to wear.” I feel like I know how to help and we feel like we get to see friends every day, become close to our clients. They come in for a job interview, and think of us as someone to help them.

Jenna: It was one of my favorite YELP reviews, the client said they felt like they trust us they know we wouldn’t put them in anything that didn’t look great. I love that.

What is a challenge for you?

Nikki: This is a hard one to talk about, but I think something difficult is sometimes the family dynamics are such that people are used to giving each other opinions, that might comment on body-types in an unflattering way.

Jenna: Right? Bodyshaming is real! I think that they probably are too close to it and don’t realize how it feels, people sometimes make comments thinking it is an honest opinion and it may not be the be all end all. So yes, that’s hard to hear.

Nikki: We want clients to feel comfortable and like they are shopping with friends when they come in the store.

How do you feel Yoga & Acupuncture help you?

Jenna: We feel like it helps so much that we developed a holistic plan for our business. As small business owners, our life and business are so intertwined that we don’t want to bring personal stress into business, or home to family. “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” Acupuncture and Yoga help so much.

Nikki: Right, Acupuncture and Yoga help us maintain a positive work/life balance.  We spend so much time dressing the body, yoga and acupuncture are like dressing the mind.

What is your vision ?

Nikki: I grew up with a lot of stores that stayed with me for the entirety of my childhood, I want to be that for other people.   People say, “We always come here everytime we come to Stoughton, it is here and Fosdals!” If I am in the same company as Fosdals, that is exciting legacy to me.

Jenna: We have been able to mold the store and made a lot of changes and our customers have stayed with us through the fine-tuning of our vision. If we knew then what we know now, it would be different, but that trial and error has led us here. We love that we are flexible to change, that you can feel comfortable here, bring your kids here; we are accessible. We feel lucky to best friends working together with love for one another and respect for each other’s family and well-being.

If you would love to support this family-friendly, community-loving business, you can do so online or in person at
Stori Anne & Co and pick up a free pass to a yoga class with me.

Thanks to Nikki and Jenna for being lovely co-creators!
